When many were rugged up in blankets with heaters on, Annemaree had a freezing night at the Mayor’s Winter
Sleep Out but all for a good cause.
Residents, businesspeople and politicians were invited to the Mayor’s Winter Sleep Out at Bella Vista Farm Park on Saturday 22 August 2014, in support of the Community Foundation of North Western Sydney’s initiative to raise money and awareness in support of the homeless of the Hills.
Annemaree said, “Sleeping out in the freezing cold with incredible members of our community was a small sacrifice to make when you think about the individuals who do this every night. It was beautiful to see people coming together to show their immense support for this initiative to bring the hidden issue of homelessness back into our community’s agenda. We’re blown away by our community and think it is amazing what can be achieved when politicians and community groups join together.”
This year’s Winter Sleep Out raised over $40,000 for the homeless.
